The FitCertain reference

The evidence behind a fit.

How FitCertain checks part identities, model compatibility, replacement numbers and retailer information.

Start with the exact number

A similar-looking part is not enough. We record the manufacturer reference, part type and sources separately from any retailer product title. A kit, a pulley wheel and an entire assembly can have different numbers and different contents.

Reading the fit evidence

Confirmed means at least two source publishers in our record list the complete model for that part. It is a documented catalog match, not a physical test by FitCertain. Single source means one source lists it and the match still needs corroboration. Not yet verified means our data cannot confirm it; it does not mean the part will not fit.

We preserve the exact source spelling, including model punctuation and every revision digit. -03 and -0003 are separate entries; they never share sources. Known publisher groups count once, and family-only listings do not count as corroboration. Conflicting sources means the same complete model has unresolved part claims; we give no fit conclusion for it. A shared brand name, model prefix or similar appearance never produces a confirmed fit result.

Keep the history visible

A sourced superseded number may point to a current part. Unverified relationships and kit contents are not treated as interchangeable parts. Retailer IDs help you find a listing but do not create a new manufacturer identity.

Dates matter

The checked date identifies an observation, not a promise of current stock or price. Non-Amazon price snapshots older than 30 days are hidden. Amazon buttons always ask you to check the price on Amazon; we do not publish static Amazon prices or copied ratings.

Correct the record

Keep the full model, the disputed part number and a link to a model-specific diagram. Use our contact page to prepare a concise correction request. We will only change a verified relationship when supporting evidence is available.
