Dryer idler pulleys

Compare dryer idler wheels and assemblies, identify the right reference and check the full dryer model before ordering.

Category membership does not confirm fit. Keep the complete model suffix when you search.

Wheel, arm or complete assembly?

The idler is part of the dryer belt-tension system. Catalogs may describe a pulley wheel, an arm with a wheel, or a larger repair kit using similar words. Start with the model-specific diagram so you know which component is being sold. A part photograph alone may not show every included clip, spacer or mounting piece.

The references here are WE03X31620, DC93-00634A, 279640, WP691366 and W10837240. They belong to separate records and are not interchangeable. The Whirlpool brand page compares its wheel and assembly references; the Samsung page keeps superseded numbers under DC93-00634A. Open the exact record, read the written package description and check your complete dryer model.

Use noise as a clue, not a verdict

A squeak, rumble or drum movement problem can involve more than one component. Record when the sound happens and whether the drum turns, without operating a dryer that appears unsafe. The belt, drum supports and idler may need separate inspection. Buying a pulley from the sound description alone risks replacing the wrong component.

Disconnect power before inspection and follow the manufacturer instructions. Internal access and belt routing vary. If diagnosis requires opening the cabinet beyond your experience, ask a qualified technician. Do not move or disconnect a gas supply to make access easier.

Follow number history carefully

An old number can be useful when it has a documented replacement relationship. For example, the WE03X31620 page records older references rather than creating a second competing page for the same identity. A kit that contains an idler is not automatically an alias for that idler. Read the relationship and package description before deciding what to order.

Make the final comparison

Keep the complete model, old part number and diagram position together. Compare the mounting arrangement and included hardware with the written listing. On the part page, a confirmed model match means corroborating catalog publishers, while single-source and unknown results need more checking. Unlisted does not mean incompatible. Ask the retailer to resolve an uncertain suffix and confirm return restrictions before installing a component. Check current delivery and stock on the retailer site; the dates on FitCertain describe reviewed information rather than a live inventory feed.

Before you choose

Does appearing in this category confirm my model?

No. Check the complete model on the individual part page. A shared family, brand or part type does not establish fit.

What if my model is missing?

Our catalog is a reviewed subset. Keep the full suffix and ask the retailer to confirm the exact diagram item. An unlisted model is unknown, not a confirmed mismatch.
